TXl ON SHOW

Paton's of Edinburgh held an informal demonstration of the new TXl at the King's Manor Hotel on Wednesday, 8 April 1998. Coffee and sandwiches were available all day, making a relaxed atmosphere for drivers to talk to
staff from Patons, representatives from LTF and Paton's own insurance services. Two new TXl demonstrators, an automatic and a manual, were available to take for test drives.

Taxi Trade Today estimate that approximately 250 drivers came to the show. Jim Weatherston, General Manager of Patons Edinburgh, explained why. "The
King's Manor is a nice setting and it gives drivers a chance to get together, enjoy themselves and see the TX 1 off the garage premises".

UNPRECEDENTED DEMAND

There has been an unprecedented demand for the TXl from taxi drivers throughout the land and this has resulted in a massive order book and record levels of production for London Taxis International. The order book is
brimming with demand for nearly 500 new cabs. Good news for Coventry as, since the beginning of January, London Taxis International have recruited an additional 60 highly skilled employees.

BUILT FOR QUALITY

When asked why the TX 1 was proving to be so successful Jim Weatherston said, "The TX1 is a purpose- built taxi, it is comfortable and safe for drivers and
passengers, but one of the key elements to its success is that it is built for quality rather than quantity. I cannot emphasise enough that this vehicle is purpose- built to be a taxi from the minute it goes onto the production line. It has excellent wheel-chair accessibility, a swivel seat and step for infirm people, a child seat and even a hearing loop linked to the inter-
com system to assist the hard of hearing".

Ian Howell, Marketing Manager of London Taxi Finance, was also on hand to explain some of the very flexible finance deals that were on offer. Ian said, " We are here to give the drivers the best advice on finance and to get
the right package to suit the individual driver".

To complete the show Paton's Insurance Services gave up to the minute, competitive insurance quotations.

This was a great opportunity for drivers to get shown round the TX 1 and then go out for a drive on their own. Judging by the amount of sandwiches eaten,
those that came enjoyed themselves.
