EDITORIAL We as taxi drivers are an integral part of the transport industry and in many cases the main form of transport for handicapped and disabled people. Taxis provide an all year round 24 hour door to door service that is vital to thousands of people with mobility problems. Councillor David Begg addresses these issues and firmly places the taxi within the integrated policy. The Tourist Industry is helped by the "friendly cabbie " who can sell his/her city in such a way that tourists leave with a lasting impression of our country which leaves them with the desire to return. To improve your skills, LEEL offers you the chance to attend courses where you can exchange ideas with other people working within tourism as well as gaining valuable information which will help you in your day-to-day dealings with tourists. In each edition we will bring all the news and views which affect our industry but in particular give you, the cabbie, the opportunity to air your views.
